In 2019 I was responsible for the creation of Koru Kids' online training for aspiring after school nannies, from the initial planning phase to script-writing, filming, presenting and editing. The course has since been completed by around 10.000 nannies, who gave it a 4.9 out of 5 rating.

As the course was aimed at users from various backgrounds, it was important to keep the design simple yet engaging. This was achieved by alternating between videos, quizzes and text lessons as well as adding some tongue-in-cheek humour where appropriate.

In person

At Koru Kids I also planned and led up to 5 training sessions per week with up to 25 attendees each. The challenge was to keep the training light-hearted and fun while also covering rather serious topics, such as safeguarding or risk assessment.

The key was to find a mix of activities that kept the attendees on their feet and encouraged interaction between them. This included pair & share, game and role-play activities.

Teaching

I completed my PGCE in Secondary Drama at Sussex University in 2016 and landed my first teaching job at Thomas Tallis School in Greenwich. There I taught drama to students in KS3, GCSE and A-Level.

Koru Kids Training

This is an example for one of the videos I wrote, presented and produced for the Koru Kids online training. The "Standards" mentioned here are important ground rules for the nannies, so to make them easy to remember they needed to be presented in a visually memorable way. What I came up with was the four freeze frames at the end, which also allowed for some slapstick humour.

Koru Kids Onboarding

The challenge when trying to disrupt a market with a new idea is that you need to explain that idea over and over again. Koru Kids needed a video that did the job for them and this is what we came up with.

One of the challenges was producing this in the middle of a global pandemic. I put together some clear guidelines to ensure that the nannies' footage was good enough quality for me to edit it all together.

Hampstead Heath, July 2020

This was a fun little project I completed as an exercise in a single day. The footage was shot on my phone using a gimbal while I took my dog Luis for a walk in Hampstead Heath.

World Travel & Tourism Council: WTM 2019

I was asked by the World Travel & Tourism Council to create a video showcasing their events at and around the World Travel Market 2019. The brief was quite open and left me with a lot of artistic freedom, which made the project a really fun one.

Enterprise Ethereum Alliance: London Meetup Feb 2020

The EEA holds regular meetups for members to present their recent progress. So the presentations could be watched online afterwards I edited them into a classic split-screen format.
